Privacy Policy
mvcprogrammer.com is the personal portfolio of Neal Thomas, a sole proprietor software engineer in Holiday, Florida. This policy describes the little data the site handles and the one text-message program it runs.
What the site collects
The site is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, embeds no third-party trackers, and has no accounts or forms that ask for your information.
Like any web server, the hosting service (Amazon CloudFront and Amazon S3) records standard access logs: the requesting IP address, the page requested, the time, the browser's user-agent string, and the referring page. These logs are used only to keep the site running and are not combined with any other data about you.
Resume download alerts
When someone clicks the Resume button, the request passes through a small AWS Lambda function before the PDF is delivered. That function sends Neal Thomas a notification so he knows the resume was downloaded. The notification contains:
- the date and time of the download,
- the requesting IP address,
- the browser's user-agent string and the browser and operating system family taken from it (for example "Chrome/Windows"),
- the referring site, or a source tag if the link carried one (for example a link shared on LinkedIn), and
- public information about the IP address: its reverse DNS host name, the network operator that owns it, and the approximate city it is registered to. This comes from a lookup against ipinfo.io, which receives only the IP address.
No name, email address, or phone number of the visitor is collected, because none is asked for. The location is the one associated with the network, not the visitor's precise position. At most one notification is sent per IP address every fifteen minutes. The notification is delivered to Neal Thomas by email and, once enabled, by text message to his own mobile phone. It is not stored anywhere other than the notification itself and the Lambda function's execution log, which Amazon retains for a limited time.
Text messages (SMS)
The only text messages sent from this site's toll-free number are the resume download alerts described above, and the only recipients are Neal Thomas and anyone he has personally added to the alert list. Visitors to the site are never texted, and the site never collects visitor phone numbers.
Mobile information is never shared. Phone numbers subscribed to the alerts, and consent to receive them, are not sold, rented, or shared with any third party or affiliate for marketing or promotional purposes. The only parties that handle the numbers are Amazon Web Services, which delivers the messages, and the recipients' mobile carriers.
Recipients can stop the messages at any time by replying STOP to any alert, or by asking Neal Thomas to remove their number. See the SMS terms for details.
Service providers
The site runs on Amazon Web Services (S3, CloudFront, Lambda, and Simple Notification Service). Amazon processes the data above on Neal Thomas's behalf under its own privacy notice. The IP lookup described above is answered by ipinfo.io under its privacy policy.

The site links to GitHub, LinkedIn, X, and the live projects shown in the portfolio. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy does not cover.
Changes
If the site ever starts collecting more than described here, this page will be updated and the effective date above will change.
